3 to 7 Weeks for Real Estate Courses
The first step you need toward becoming a licensed real estate agent is to take real estate courses. There are several DRE-approved colleges where you can take courses to fulfill the requirement for the license.
Know that the DRE does not permit students to complete a course in less than 2.5 weeks. You can study and complete the required courses in seven weeks or so.
6 Weeks or Longer for Exam Application Processing
Once you have completed the real estate course, you can start submitting your real estate exam application. Don’t rush the process, though, and ensure that you have all the documentation you need for the application.
For instance, you need to submit college transcripts for the courses you took, certificates, complete fingerprint scans, and more. After submitting your application, you can check the status by checking whether the application fee appears on your bank or credit card statement or not.
It is recommended that you submit an application for both the Combination Exam and License at the same time. Yes, you will have to pay the fees for both, but you won’t have to submit a license application after the exam’s completion.
One Week or More for the Real Estate Exam
Once the application is approved, your exam will be scheduled for a week or longer after the application approval date.
On the day of the exam, you’ll have three hours and 15 minutes to finish the exam. Upon completion, the exam score will be tallied and given to you. You need to get at least 70% to pass the exam and finally be a licensed real estate agent in California. If you fail, you can try to take the exam again within two years of your application submission date.
